1) It is recommended
that these courses will be chosen from among those that are specified for one
of the specific concentration areas described in the KSU Mathematics Major Handbook. A copy of this handbook can be
obtained electronically at http://math.kennesaw.edu/majorshandbook or
can be obtained from the departmental office (SC 509). A minimum of 24 of the
27 hours of upper division concentration-based electives must be courses at the
3000 or 4000 level. (Up to 3 hours of upper level concentration-based electives
can be satisfied using “overflow” hours that have been accumulated from science
courses taken in Area D.) Each student is strongly encouraged to meet with
his/her advisor at least once per semester in order to ensure that the student
remains on track toward completion of the selected program of study.
2) The capstone experience might be an
internship, faculty-directed research project, or special topics course. All
Capstone experiences require pre-approval by the department curriculum
committee. This approval process must be initiated by the student (through his
or her advisor) at least one semester before the capstone experience is to be
undertaken.
