What about my financial aid?

I know nothing about financial aid.  Click here to go to the financial aid website

What do I do about Board of Regents Testing?

A student must take the Board of Regents Test in order to fulfill the Regents Reading and Regents Writing requirements. These show up in red on the student's advising screen in Owl Express under Legislative Requirements if they have not been fulfilled prior to attending KSU.

The requirements for when a student should take this test have recently changed .  Click here for the most current information about Board of Regents Testing.

How do I take care of the other Legislative Requirements (other than Regents Reading and Regents Writing) that show up on my transcript?

The US History and GA History requirements are fulfilled with a passing grade in HIST 2112.

The US Constitution and GA Constitution requirements are fulfilled with a passing grade in POLS 1101.

What about tansfer courses from other universities?

This may take a while to show up in Owl Express. However, with the new advising screens available, we can see what course you took, where you took it, and what KSU is counting the course for as far as KSU requirements go.

In coming to KSU, we can look ahead at what "should" easily transfer by looking at the Office of the Registrar's webpage (as long as the college/university from which you are coming is already in the system). This can be found at: https://panther.kennesaw.edu/pls/banweb/zwsktrna.P_find_state.

What if something didn't transfer? Course substitutions?

These show up on your transcript at 1T00, 2T00, etc. If there is not an easy transfer of one course to another, then we can fill out a course substitution form. The student will need to provide a catalog description of the course from the previous university. The paperwork is sent to the department of the course that we are trying to substitute for (ie, Math course substitutions go to the math dept; art course substitutions go to the art dept; etc.).

Once this has been evaluated and approved, it will show up at the very bottom of the advising page. There you will find a section called "substitutions" that will show any substitutions that have been made that were not automatic (advisors can determine if a course is an automatic substitution or not before the paperwork is filled out). MAKE SURE THE COURSE SUBSTITUTION SHOWS UP HERE!!!!

What if I have an Associate's Degree from another University System of Georgia (USG) school?

Then you will have met all of the general education requirements here.

What if my transcript shows that I am missing a course for KSU general education requirements but that I have satisfied the "area" the course fits into?

This means that you have met the general education requirements for KSU. At the bottom of a student's transcript, you may see "evaluation comment information," which will tell you what areas of our general education requirements have been satisfied. It may be that the student fulfilled the area requirement at another USG school, which means that it also fulfills KSU's requirement even though the requirements are different.

For example, Area C fulfills the Humanities/Fine Arts credit. This area requires ART 1107 or MUSI 1107 or TPS 1107 AND ENGL 2110. A transfer student may not have the ENGL 2110 course to fill KSU's requirements, but the bottom of the transcript may say that Area C has been satisfied. That means that this student fulfilled the requirements for Area C and does not have to take the ENGL 2110 course.

If I have applied for Admission to Teacher Education and I have changed my major to another education field, do I need to reapply?

No.  Your advisor needs to email Mary Lynn Orr (morr10@kennesaw.edu) your name, student #, email address, former major and new major so that the information in your packet can be updated to reflect your new major.

Do I need to change my major from “Mathematics Education” to “Mathematics with Teaching Certificate”?

No.  In order to take the Mathematics Education courses (i.e., MAED 3475, 4415, 4416, etc.), you have to show that you are majoring in Mathematics Education.  When you are ready to graduate, the system will be changed to reflect that you are indeed getting a Mathematics degree with teaching certificate.

When can I petition to graduate?

You MUST petition to graduate during the semester BEFORE you plan to graduate -- petition in summer for fall graduation, petition in fall for spring graduation, and petition in spring for summer graduation.

For current deadlines, go to the academic calendars website.
