The Kennesaw State University methods of teaching course is referred to as TOSS, which stands for Teaching Of Specific Subject. In the mathematics education program, the TOSS course is split into two courses, MAED 4416 and MAED 4417. MAED 4416 is called Teaching of Mathematics 6-12, and is a 6-semester hour methods of teaching course. MAED 4417 is called Teaching Mathematics 6-12 Practicum, and is a 3-semester hour field experience course that is taken concurrently with MAED 4416. The courses are currently only offered in the fall semester. Students must apply for admittance to the TOSS courses. Applications must be signed by your advisor, and are due by March 30 for the following fall TOSS courses. A meeting is scheduled each year in February for those students who plan to take the TOSS courses the following fall. A student must apply to TOSS after a mandatory meeting in the spring.
